The following tutorials provide a brief introduction on how to use VMOD Flex. The objective is not to teach you every detail, but to familiarize you with basic principles and the way the program works. The steps are intentionally kept brief so that you can actually start using the program as quickly as possible. You are encouraged to explore the more detailed sections of the Help to further familiarize yourself.
In VMOD Flex, there are two workflows you can follow: Conceptual or Numerical Modeling. Please take a moment to review the summary below to help you decide where you should start.
Use this option if you:
· | Are starting a new modeling project and have various data types/formats (GIS etc.) for defining the geological layering, flow materials and boundary conditions |
· | Are dealing with complex geological layering (pinchouts and discontinuities) |
· | Wish to evaluate multiple numerical grids for your project |
· | Wish to build a conceptual model for FEFLOW |
The Conceptual Modeling tutorial will walk you through the following steps:
· | Defining the Geological Structure |
· | Defining the Properties and Boundaries |

Use this option if you want to:
· | Create a MODFLOW-based numerical model (define the numerical grid and populate the grid the properties and boundary conditions; similar to conventional Visual MODFLOW); |
· | Import a Visual MODFLOW project set (*.VMF) |
